Dr. Ahmed M. A. Moharram - Founder and Managing Director
Dr. Ahmed M. A. Moharram is the Founder and Managing Director of Anchorage Investments Ltd. Dr. Moharram has significant years of experience in the construction sector in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East. A major portion of these years were directed towards leading the project development and management sector of the ACE Moharram Bakhoum Group, its industrial activities, and the group’s financial and treasury affairs.
Throughout his career, Dr. Moharram has built a strong network of stakeholders and partners in the private sector as well as within governments on a regional level. In 2011, he started embarking on a mission to materialise his industrialist vision by developing a rather vigorous plan to build one of the country’s distinguished petrochemical complexes in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This was leveraged by his expertise and the know-how of his teams in different relevant fields whilst synergising with the group’s capabilities, all towards a strategic intent of complementing Egypt’s energy and mining value chains, exploring Egypt’s export potentials, and filling-in regional market gaps.
Dr. Moharram joined ACE as a Structural Engineer where he worked on the structural analysis and design of a number of notable projects such as the Greater Cairo Metro Lines 2 and 3, and the Mubarak TV Studios at the Media Production City in 6th of October City, Egypt. He was promoted to Business Development Manager, and subsequently Director, responsible for developing the group’s business development strategy to enable geographic expansion, diversification and increased market share. His talents and results quickly earned him the trust of the group’s shareholders, becoming an Executive Director, and eventually the Group Executive Director and Acting Group Treasurer. During his executive tenure at ACE, he spearheaded a number of restructuring initiatives and activities. He was assigned by the Board to fully-manage a one-year assignment aiming at restructuring the group for sustainable growth and leading the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system integrating internal and external management information across the company and its branches abroad. Dr. Moharram developed a group Treasury Department within a restructured Finance Department to manage corporate finance affairs of the group, instigating a complete turnaround of the financing parameters and agreements and leading to significant impact on the group’s operations, backlog growth and capacity to win new projects. Dr. Moharram was instrumental in managing the carving-out of ACE’s Project Management Division into a separate entity (ACE Project Management – a Joint Stock Company), liaising and coordinating with all relevant external advisors/consultants and in-house staff towards this objective.
Throughout his career as an engineer, industrialist, and businessman, Dr. Moharram has been always keen on acquiring knowledge. Dr. Moharram holds a PhD. degree in Structural Engineering, and an MSc. Degree in Concrete Structures, both from Imperial College London, as well as being an alumnus of the Finance Executive Education of London Business School with a focus on Project Finance, Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity. This diverse engineering and finance education have endorsed him over the years into holding several positions in the multinational organisation ACE Moharram Bakhoum as well as establishing and managing his entrepreneurial industrial development business in the downstream oil and gas and industrial sectors.
